Welcome to our 2009 CECP Black Tie Gala Page.

CECP has been a self-sustaining, all volunteer organization since it’s beginning in 1997. We are able to provide the Charlotte East community with monthly meetings, forums and activities by utilizing the funding from our membership fees and our annual Black Tie Gala.
CECP continues to collaborate with our citizens and government officials to maintain a high quality of life for all in Charlotte East. We advocate for such issues concerning better crime prevention services, parks & recreation services for our youth, spurring economic growth and funding for better transportation.
Our annual Black Tie Gala affords us the privilege of advocating for our eastern quadrant regardless of the issues affecting us. We have had many wonderful speakers and guests at past galas, including Angela Woodson (Ohio State Commission on Fatherhood), Senator Dan Clodfelter, D100 Representative Tricia Cotham, D102 Representative, Becky Carney and Neighbors for a Safer Charlotte.
Each year we build on what Charlotte East offers our city and showcase different aspects of our community. This year we introduce our ‘Works of Art’ Program that was developed to include all of our eastside schools. The participating schools will be providing our centerpieces based on our theme, ‘International Connection’, along with an ‘Essay of Inspiration’. We have wonderful awards for the participating students which include the ‘Works of Art Tour’ that allows our gala team to take the creative works on a citywide tour through April 2010. The tour includes venues like The Charlotte Museum of History, Discovery Place and ImaginOn.
In addition to the presentations, we have many exciting things to share with our guests including a ‘Silent and Live Auction’ that showcase original works of art, vacation packages, jewelry, sports memorabilia and an ‘International Dessert’ line.
We do hope that you will participate by attending as our guest (Individually or Business) and/or sponsor of one of our ‘Reserved Tables’. Our Third Annual CECP Black Tie Gala is held at The Charlotte Museum of History from 7:00pm – 10:00pm on Friday, October 30th, 2009.

Warmest Regards,

Shelin Wilder Veronica Thompson
Fundraising Director Gala Co-Chair

Works of Art:
CECP “Works of Art’ Program is designed to allow our Charlotte East schools (by geography) to participate in our Annual Black Tie Gala by creating our centerpieces. There are criteria that must be met; the most important being creating a work of art that reflects our gala theme. Our 2009 theme is ‘International Connection’. It is intended to bring an awareness to our students, community and guests of the diverse mix of cultures and countries (that they represent) living here in Charlotte East and the wonderful traditions and values they share with us daily as a community. The work of art is accompanied by an essay that explains their inspiration for choosing the particular culture or country.
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and three Grand Honorable Mentions winning creations will receive trophies and all creations will receive rosette ribbons. In addition, all of the ‘Works of Art’ creations chosen to be showcased at our gala will also be taken on a citywide tour to venues that include Discovery Place, ImaginOn and Charlotte Museum of History (to name a few).
